It wasn’t until last night that I knew they were no longer going to be here in Australia. Not that I had so much to do with them here.
My story is from when we were still living in New Zealand. The reason I’m going to tell this story is because it was suggested that I did and for us all to understand that earth angels come in many different disguises. Mine happened to be the Avon lady.
I had three small children the eldest was 4, the middle son 11months and a newborn. The youngest was a bit premature so need to be woken up for his feeds..
I remember sitting on the floor in tears, the washing machine had flooded and there was water everywhere, the eldest had disappear (he was good at doing that). He’d usually wait until I was looking after the other two and he would be off.
He knew his Nana’s telephone number so when I was busy he would ring her and tell here he was coming to see her. Some how he knew when she was home.
I would then get a call from Mum asking,” Is Nathan there? I’d look for him the reply would be no( while thinking not again) She would say, “he has just rung and is on his way up here”, which was about 10miles away he was walking. She would go and pick him up and have him for a few hours to give me a break.. We got him into school early he was really ready for it.
Back to my Avon lady and me sitting on the floor head in hands and crying. There was a knock at the door the door was open and she had seen me sitting there. I knew her to say hello to, she had lived in the small town near where we grew up. Her husband owned the pub.
She took one look at me on the floor said, “Go and sit down, proceeded to clean up the mess, make a cup of tea, sorted the middle son out and fed the youngest..
When everything had settled she sat down and introduced herself told me she was the Avon Lady and said, “I know just how you felt”. She is one lady I will remember for the rest of my life she was one of the many earth angels whom I have had sent to me in times of need..
I didn’t buy anything the first time but I did the second time she called. This time I made her a cup of tea and listened to her story, which was very similar, to mine only her children were older.
As someone said last night in class, “ A women’s circle can solve any problems” It is having someone there to just help in moments of need, listening with out giving advice, just holding space.
We all need an Avon lady at sometime in our lives, just helping through those moments of need..
This got me to thinking of how we live our lives today.
Do we have time for each other?
Do we make time to sit and chat and hear each other?
Who is there for the new Mum who maybe really struggling but not saying anything?
Or, the young family, who are juggling work, family and themselves.
Where is there Avon lady?
Why have we got to the stage in our evolvement where money means everything? And everything cost so much?
Where the most import things are being relegated to having no value, like children, family community.
Everyone is out being busy, working; not having enough time for anything so where is there Avon Lady?
Mine now is our Monday night group my life would be colourless with out them. They bring me enrichment, laughter, community and women’s circle, spiritual joy and knowledge. I thank them they are my Avon Ladies.
Enjoy the rest of your March. This year is about being in the moment, trusting in the universe and finding happiness in what you do.
I nearly forgot I am writing another book. This one is being channelled so a little unsure as to the end product yet. But I think it is about men’s mental health or younger ones mental health. It is going to become an epidemic if we can’t get to the root cause.
My other lovely news is that after nearly 6 years we got to see our two eldest grandchildren. Thank you universe. It really does come down to timing.
